木こり／Woodcutter

　浜から山に向かって徐々に線量が高くなる南相馬市では山中の樹々は汚染されている。鹿島区でも山に近い上栃窪の木こりさん宅の自宅の放射線量も決して低くはない。

　ながらく木を刈ることを生活の糧としていた人にとってどのような心境なのか、出会って間もなくの僕は聞くのを躊躇った。

　その代わりに林業が盛んで景気が良かった頃の話を聞かせてもらった。作業服姿がいまだに板につく姿を見つつ僕なりに彼のその頃を想像した。

　帰る間際に「こんど山で木を伐採するところを写真に撮らせて下さい」とお願いすると、「来週に山で大木を切るけど来るか」と誘ってもらったが、あいにく帰京しなければならなかったので「また次回に」と返答した。

　その機会を永遠に失ったことを今でも悔いている。



Trees in mountain are contaminated at Minamisoma city where radiation level are gradually higher from the shore to mountain. The radiation level of the woodcutter`s house In Kashima prefecture are a bit high.

I hesitated to ask to him how he feel as a professional woodcutter that the mountain and the trees had been contaminated.

I asked him to shoot his woodcut in mountain, then he suggested to come next week, but I couldn`t stay there till that, so I said I would love to join it next time.

I regret I lose the chance it forever.
